Alyssa McKeeman, LPC

I am the owner of Blue Ridge Psychotherapy and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina. I have a Master's Degree (MEd) and Education Specialist Degree (EdS) Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University and a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Clemson.

Alyssa Mckeeman

I have been in the mental health field since 2013. I worked at a rape crisis center with victims of assault and abuse, at a group home with teenage offenders and trauma victims, and at a psychiatric hospital with depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

I spent several years in Atlanta receiving extensive training and supervision in the field of eating disorders under the supervision of Dr. Amy Smith-Barnes at Midtown Psychotherapy Associates. I worked at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Clemson University while still maintaining a private practice in Atlanta before starting my own practice in Clemson in 2019.

I have demonstrated success in helping clients improve their quality of life by reducing the frequency and severity of eating disorder behaviors, maladaptive thinking patterns, and negative self talk.

I help clients become the masters of their own lives again. I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and self harming behaviors. I also work with clients who are adjusting to new circumstances in their lives, having difficulty managing stress, or trouble navigating relationships and interpersonal conflict. I help clients work to build skills to regulate their emotions and thoughts effectively to become their own therapists.

I partner with clients to help them feel like the best versions of themselves. I believe clients are experts in their lives and I take my knowledge and training to help clients make effective change. I utilize an integrative approach using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ACT, the triphasic model, and behavioral activation.
